Hey, we appreciate you sharing this. Currently, third party code added to a theme isn't transferred over due to the original code changing slightly every update - so third party code may interfere and cause issues. You can absolutely keep using an older version if it's working for your business, we support all 2.0 theme versions with bug fixes and the use of Design Time (https://bit.ly/3F5vga5).
