Added

• Added support for image filters. Image filters are a new kind of filters that can be created using metaobjects, and allow to show small images without cropping theme (as opposed to swatch images, that are useful for colors and patterns). You can learn more about how to setup visual filters in Shopify documentation.
• Added support for combined listing (only available for Shopify Plus merchants). Combined listings bring together products that are merchandised by an option, such as color, model, or dimension. Learn more.
• Added support for upcoming increase of variants per product limit. In 2024 and 2025, Shopify will progressively update its product underlying model to allow up to 2000 variants per product. Starting from this version of Focal, your theme will be compatible when the feature will be introduced.
• Custom badges can now be added by using metafields instead of tags. This setup allows to consolidate how custom labels use across our themes. You can learn more about custom badges using metafields in our documentation.

Fixed

• Various bug fixes around native color swatches.

Removed

• Shopify has deprecated the usage of multiple colors for metaobject collection filtering, and this feature has been removed from our theme. This feature was launched a few months ago but has not been adopted by merchants yet, so this removal should not impact most of the merchants.

Improved

• Due to some confusion around the new native color swatch feature, we have improved the compatibility with the old "config-based system" to better align with how it used to work. Starting from this release,the "Swatch selector style" option in the theme editor will also apply to config-based vintage color swatches, and not only to the native color swatches.

If you are using this theme on a new store, we highly encourage you to reach Shopify support and ask them to have the product taxonomy feature enabled on your store, so that you can take advantage of native color swatches right away.
